Production Part Approval Process
The Production Part Approval Process (or PPAP)
reflects ISO16949 requirements and customer-specific expectations applicable
to the outcome of
Advanced Product Quality Planning
process (APQP)
for the design and development of new vehicles and their components.
All submissions of production parts (Off-Tool Sample Submissions) must be
include comprehensive documented evidence of compliance with ISO16949, APQP
and customer-specific requirements.
CONSULTING PROFILE

of your customer, and align your product development activities with APQP
requirements and guidelines.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
Quexx International Ltd. consultants have extensive experience and expertise and

We will assist you at all stages of PPAP:
- Quality Planning (Process Control Plans PCP: key characteristics, process
and inspection stages, verification methods, equipment, frequency,
specifications, acceptance criteria, etc.)
- Design FMEA (DFMEA) - analysis and mitigation of failure modes, Critical
Characteristics, etc.)
- Process Flow Diagram
steps in the manufacturing process, including supplied product
- Process Control Plan (PCP) a step-by-step plan for quality control/assurance
- Process FMEA (PFMEA) feasibility, Significant Characteristics, analysis and
mitigation of failure modes
- Product and Process Verification and Validation (Design Validation Plan and
Report DVP&R, Process Plan and Validation, Process Capability studies, etc.)
- Design Records drawings and calculations, design evaluation and
verification, design archives
- Engineering Change Control (ECN-Engineering Change Notice, or equivalent)
- Engineering Approval a post-trial approval, endorsed by the customer
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA) verification of gauges and inspection,
control and test equipment i.e. Gauge R&R, checking fixture/aids,
- Dimensional Inspection inspection results (against the
drawing/specification)
- Material / Performance Test Results material certificates and/or laboratory
testing
- Process Capability Studies (PCP) elements of Statistical Process Control (Cpk,
etc.)
- Laboratory Accreditation certifications of laboratories involved in testing
and evaluations
- Appearance Approval Report Appearance Approval Inspection (approved by the
customer)
- Sample Production Parts samples representative of First Production Run
- Master Sample sample from production parts endorsed by the customer
- Checking Aids templates, checking tools, including dimensional/other results
- Customer-Specific Requirements i.e. OEM customer requirements (Ford, GM,
etc.)
- Part Submission Warrant (PSW) a summary of the whole PPAP package
We will also help you:

to maintain ongoing annual certification of your products, where applicable, and
- to implement Continuous Improvement processes focused on the needs of the
customer, effective CAPA techniques, company-wide Quality Function Deployment
(QFD), error-proofing, and other quality-up-cost-down initiatives, as required.
