SaaS - Software as a Service

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a business
model whereby a
provider
licenses an application to customers for use as a “service
on demand”. SaaS software vendors may host the application on their own
web servers or
download the application to the consumer device.
SaaS
is simple and cost-effective to install and maintain with software maintenance
and upgrades performed by the provider, who also takes care of all security
issues.
Following careful
evaluation of ERP packages we selected few proven SaaS products for you. All of
them are reputable and performed well during our evaluations but neither one of
them represents the perfect solution. Together with you we will evaluate your
specific requirements and evaluate and choose the one which will offer the most
appropriate answer to your unique needs. If
you would rather not deal with the software you may prefer to have it deployed
and hosted remotely by an external provider. Alternatively, if you only trust
your own IP professionals, you may install it and host it or on your own
servers.
The below key factors (we may add few more, depending on client-specific
requirements) should be prioritized and carefully evaluated against the
following criteria:
1) Simplicity. Proposed SaaS solutions are relatively simple to deploy.
No need for additional servers or to install the software by yourself. This ease
may create technical tradeoffs and result in a business environment may
represent major departure from your present business practices. Software

2) Flexibility. SaaS, being offered as a Web-based and more “generic”
solution, does not allow for very fine customization of the software. The
proposed solutions are, nevertheless, very flexible, and allow for fine-tuning

expect no difficulties associated with changing the software in the future, if
required.
3) Compatibility. One of the key factors. Lack of sufficient
compatibility with existing software may mean loss of valuable data, costly data
migration process, and imminent delays and frustrations. We selected for you
proven SaaS software which promises a relatively smooth transition or addition
to your existing processes.
4) Adaptability.
A need to adapt business processes to the software is more tolerated by smaller
organizations which are generally able to adjust their business processes to the
software easier than a larger organization. If your present processes are not
depending heavily on existing software, or of your organization is in a need to
drastically re-engineer your present business processes this limitation may be
not noticed at all.
5) Cost. The cost of deployment of SaaS software carries a much smaller
initial cost and does not require any major investment in existing hardware or
additional technical personal resources to maintain it. This may be attractive
to the smaller businesses and startup organizations, in particular. Although the
ongoing annual payment for the use of software may go higher as the company
grows and adds more users to the system, the company-wide software license or
the need to migrate to a full-blown ERP system may be many years away. |
